Our story began in 1986 when Essential Lighting was established with the aim of providing the best quality lighting service to the conference, exhibition and live events industry.

In 1993 the Full Service division was set up with expertise in project managing the whole design process from creative brief to implementation.

Growth in demand for a broader range of intelligent lighting technology and the technical support required by the rapid evolution of these products has led the company to be at the forefront of this market. We are now one of the UK's leading suppliers of moving lights and LED technology and are part of the Production Resource Group, one of the worlds largest lighting and event specialists.

In 1998 Essential Lighting moved to our current premises in SW London (45,000 ft2 of warehouse and office space).From here we are pleased to be able to offer the ultimate lighting service to all of our customers for any event, of any size, anywhere in the world.

In 2005, we acquired Trade Hire specialist Lighting Hire Ltd, and this was integrated with Essential Lighting to create a new hire team specifically to service the dry hire needs of the production trade. The Essential Hire team has access to the combined stock, to provide a broad range of lighting equipment of the highest quality with the fast and efficient response demanded by trade customers.

In October 2008 we became part of the Production Resource Group, a global group of event specialists.
